Estonian Language

Estonian language is a Uralic, Finnic language spoken mainly in Estonia (95%) and Finland (5%). It is the official language of Estonia, spoken natively by about 90% of the population. It is also spoken in various other places, for example as a second language by some groups in Russia. Estonian belongs to the Finnic group of the Finno-Ugric languages, together with Finnish and other neighboring languages. The Estonian language has two dialects: the South Estonian dialects and the North Estonian dialects (excluding Kihnu island). The standard language is based on the Northern dialects.
