Latin Language

The Latin language is the language of ancient Rome, and it was also used by the Catholic Church for many centuries. It is a member of the Italic branch of the Indo-European language family.  Latin was spoken as a native language in parts of Italy and the rest of Europe until around 200 AD, when it was gradually replaced by local languages. It remained an important language for scholars and other people who wanted to communicate within that elite circle. Latin is still used today by scholars and others for its rich history, structure and vocabulary.
