Galician Language

The Galician language (galego) is an Indo-European language spoken in Galicia, an autonomous community located in northwestern Spain, where it is co-official with Spanish. It is used also by the Portuguese subregion of Fala Galaña, located in the Spanish region of Asturias. The number of speakers is estimated at about 2 million people, representative of the Atlantic European post-roman languages. The language originated from Latin following the collapse of the Roman Empire.
