Nepali Language

The Nepali language belongs to the Indo-European language family. It is a descent from Sanskrit and Prakrit, languages which flourished in what is now the Indian subcontinent. Tibeto-Burman languages are also spoken in Nepal and Tibet. The use of the word Nepali in the constitution of Nepal refers to the constitutional language, that is, Nepali in Devanagari script. There are about 110 million speakers of Nepali in Nepal (1991 census).
