Lithuanian Language

The Lithuanian language is one of two official languages in Lithuania. It is spoken by about 2 million people and it is written in Latin alphabet. Lithuanian is not only spoken in Lithuania, but also in South Siberia, as well as in Brazil and Argentina. The language has been preserved for over 700 years and it has remained very similar over all these centuries. Lithuanian has a unique sound that distinguishes it from other languages and dialects. It is the only surviving Baltic language that has the diphthongs with long vowels, which are common to the ancient Indo-European languages.
