Czech Language
The Czech language is spoken by approximately 12 million people, mainly in the Czech Republic. "Czech" comes from the word Čech, which refers to the group of people who speak the Czech language. The country where it is spoken is therefore also called "Czechia". It is a West Slavic language and thus belongs to the larger group of Slavic languages. The other West Slavic languages include Polish, Slovak, Sorbian and Lusatian (which is extinct), as well as Kashubian, Silesian and Lechitic (which are variants).
